You need a pretty big house to get more than 50 feet away. When connected to an iPhone 5S, if you get out of range and return while walking around a big house, when you get back in range you'll still be connected, but you'll have to hit Play again.
If you're closer enough to hear your speakers, you're close enough for Bluetooth to work. I had no problem getting 30-40 feet away through multiple indoor and outdoor walls, stucco and paneling.
